{Not so} Wordless Wednesday

I am not even sure how to  start this post so I guess I will just dive right in.

I had a girl contact me a little over a year ago about shooting her wedding. I met with her and her fiance and they ended up booking me a few days later. I met up with them last May to do their engagement photos and we quickly became friends - they are such a fun sweet couple it was easy to like them.

We stayed in touch, and I was lucky enough to shoot her friends wedding so we were able to chit chat once again.

A month or so ago I see the "please send good thoughts and prayers" post on facebook so I of course sent a text to check-in and send my thoughts. She said her father was not doing well. I offered my prayers and said we will do whatever we needed to do at the wedding to get the photos done.

A few weeks passed and I checked in regarding time to get to the venue etc... and I receive a text later saying her dad was not doing well and would likely not make it much longer.

My heart broke for her, it is broken for her. I could not imagine going through this.

She asked if I would come take some photos of the marriage blessing they were planning on doing of course I said yes, I would do whatever I had to do to get there and do this.

The ceremony ended up getting pushed up a day because he was not doing well. I showed up at their house not knowing what I was going to walk in to. We talked and laughed for awhile - which honestly I have no idea how she, and her mom were even able to hold it together.

Me, the bride, her fiance, mom and minister went to their room and the minister started his blessing. I was in awe at how strong they all were. I would be on the floor in the fetal position crying in hysterics.

The blessing only lasted a few minutes, a few minutes that I will always remember.

A few minutes the bride will always remember.

A few minutes her mom will always remember.

A few minutes that everyone will remember.

Her dad passed away a few days later...her wedding is in 11 days.

You always picture having your dad walk you down that aisle and give you away on your wedding day, and sometimes life throws you that unfair curve ball, but I know that she has one amazing angel in heaven watching over her, and will definitely be with her walking down that aisle in a few days.

I suck...

 ...at blogging.

There I admitted it, and I am totes ok with it.

I have tried to be better but honestly I do not have time to blog multiple times a week. I have a very busy job, own a business and I like to see my husband, fit in a little socializing  drinking and sleep in between all of that.

I have been meaning to do a 200 follower giveaway for oh a few months now.  I did my 100th follower giveaway almost 2 years ago - I know, I know you are shocked at the quick growth my little blog has had in just a short time right?!?

I do nothing to promote my corner over here, I don't stress on the fact that I only have a couple hundred followers and for the most part I forget that my little space over here exists. Oh and to my peeps, I work in Marketing ALL day and still do nothing to market this blog.

I hear the question "oh what is your blog about?" My answer? No effing clue, its about what link up is fun to do today, or what photos can I share today. I have "Wordless Wednesday" down to an art. Would this make me a "lifestyle blogger?"

I do read blogs, I really do and I am sorry I suck at commenting too. Give me a big fat F, but I love you guys!

Blogging has not been a total fail I have met some amazing girls and it has been a great tool to grow my business, and showcase some fab images from my sessions....because my business blog is a big ole ball of suck right now too.

I am pretty positive you are still here because it takes too damn long to try and unfollow a blog...but if you are genuinely interested in my little life and have chosen to stick around then I truly appreciate it.

Maybe this little post has lit a fire in my ass to blog more, or to at least fill out the "about me" section at the top...I would not bet on it, but who knows!

Happy Tuesday!

or if you are off work on Friday, Happy Wednesday = )

My Weekend

Linking up...

This weekend B’s parents came in town from Austin to help us install…replace our back door after Bentley…OUR CAT chewed through it.

Friday night we went to dinner and made brownies – FIL’s favorite – and headed to Lowe’s to assess what we needed for this door project…

Saturday AM we I went to Starbucks and then to Lowe’s to do some damage… $623 to be exact.

An hour or so later we had 2 new doors…tools…and new flowers

I am not amazing with a hammer so I decided that I would plant new flowers in the front yard to welcome Spring.

This is the aftermath of the home repair weekend.

After the long hours of getting the door installed we fell defeat to our exhaustion and ordered pizza….and an installer to come install our storm door.

Side note: why can you not just take a door off its hinge and just add a new one on?? How is this process not easier?!?!

Brad also felt that the tennis racket worked better than spray to kill the wasps that started flying around...very comical...and effective

Sunday B picked up Starbucks for us and we relaxed for a little bit after his parents left

Then I met up with one of my April brides, met my friend’s new puppy Sid, and headed to the Rockets versus Spurs game with hubs - which was apparently Jazzercise night...

and came home and had some snuggles with Bentley

I am definitely looking forward to the 3 day weekend and the short work week. I have a couple photo sessions this weekend and looking forward to seeing my nephew on Easter.

B and I are in the early stages of planning another vacay – San Francisco, Toronto, or NYC!

Crappies

Work is insanely busy – so much to edit, get designed and printed – help!

The weather is not supposed to cooperate for my engagement session scheduled on Sunday

I have a new camera coming, it was supposed to be here this week but now not until next – cue my impatience now

90210 has been canceled – yes I am admitting that I am 1 of maybe 3 people that watch it I just hate when my shows get canned!

Happies and Crappies

The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up

Happies…
Hubs and I plan to go on a shopping excursion tomorrow, hopefully we both get some good stuff

I get to semi-sleep in tomorrow before my soccer game

Happy Hour tonight with Meg and Savanah – mmmmm Margaritas and Mexican food, can’t wait!

Houston Dynamo season starts back up again tomorrow!

Crappies…
I thought I was going to have my new camera this weekend, but won’t have it until next weekend – patience is a virtue right?

I did horrible at crossfit this morning – absolutely awful

That the Astros are upping their game ticket prices for certain games this season – bad marketing guys, I am not paying double for a ticket on season opener. Ya’ll are not even doing that well, don’t you WANT people to go to the games? I am pretty sure I have given your organization enough money...gimme a discount please!

My 2 sessions tomorrow had to reschedule due to the freak cold front we will have tomorrow.

Hubs' allergies were a mother this week so his snoring was OOC

That is all I have this week - have an amazing weekend!

Saw it, Pinned it, Did it: {wedding show booth}

About mid 2012 I really thought about doing a wedding show – you know a whole booth setup and all that jazz. I knew I did not want to show at one of the larger ones that spanned over 2 days because well…it is WAY too many people for me so I thought about doing one of the smaller shows to try and get my name out there a little more. I knew about the Dreams Wedding Showcase, which has about 120 vendors, and it was close to home so I bit the bullet and put my money down for a booth spot.

I started ordering prints, sample albums and new marketing materials and got to work. I started pinning booth ideas to help getting my creative fuel going.

After deciding that I did not want to use the standard black pipe and drape background I consulted my father-in-law who just happens to be a home builder….thank you in-laws! I sent over my ideas via pinterest and he quickly drew up some plans with dimensions and all that jazz.  We ended up deciding that hinging doors together would work the best!

B and I headed to Austin the week before to help get the wall assembled and and do a rough layout of photos. We ended up using 5 doors hinged together to mimick the ole science fair display boards.

After hinging and screwing the right sides together my booth was born, we just had to get it back to Houston.

FYI a Nissan Pathfinder is not large enough to hold doors. We had to strap them to the roof, which had us both nervous as hell.

I had to do the painting when I got home so the Monday before the show I headed to Home Depot and found the perfect color, came home and got to painting.

On Thursday after both sides were painted I started laying out how where I wanted all my prints to be mounted

After what I thought was a good layout I waited for Sunday. We carted the doors to the convention center bright and early and hubs and another friend carried my doors in and it was quite easy to pin them all together, and voila I had a booth!

This was before I had added my sign and Fleur de Lis...you can see the layout changed from my original plan

The details.

 Don't I look proud?

My amazing helper Laurel

I am so glad that I went with a flat panel wall instead of trying to use the curtains, I think it gave it a much cleaner look and was more inviting. I am hoping I got some good leads too!
how do you think I did?

Happy Thursday!
