Weekend Recap

This weekend I...

On Friday AM hubs and I went to Crossfit at 5AM but had NO sleep the night before so we were passed out on the couches by 10:15...

Saturday we got up bright and early and headed to my High School Alumni soccer game.

My nephew came since he was at my parents for the weekend...he plays soccer at the YMCA so he had to come down to the field to kick the ball around

We headed back to my parents and I had to see Evan in one of his Christmas presents I got him. Is this not the cutest thing ever??? GAP has them!

We headed back into Houston just in time to watch the Texans playoff game and we met up with our good friend Barbie for some mimosas and football

We headed back Saturday night and were in bed early....well hubs was I fell asleep on our chair until 2AM...

Sunday morning was filled with a smoothie breakfast and relaxation!
YUMMMM - oats, yogurt, ice, little bit of OJ, honey, strawberries

I also did some album design work

and got our Mardi Gras banner put in our yard

Stressful day I know...

In other news...
This Thursday also marks me and hubs' 4 year anniversary - time has seriously FLOWN by!

Have a great week!

Saw It...Pinned It...Waited a year to do it...

I had every intention of making an ornament ball wreath last year...but didnt. This year I was bound and determined to get this done.

This was my initial pin oh so many moons ago
Source: google.com via Emily on Pinterest

The ones I pinned all required massive amounts of hot glue sticking to a Styrofoam wreath. This did not sound like fun. Then I saw somewhere that you could string them onto a wire hanger - ding! This sounds way easier.

Ingredients..materials...
1 (or in my case 3) wire hangers
Around 80-90 medium sized ornaments - I got these at Hobby Lobby I think $8 for 24 or something
I used 20 small ones - $2.50 at Hobby Lobby
Hot Glue
Burlap

I knew I wanted to stick to my silver theme so I bought what I THOUGHT was enough ornaments at Wal-Mart for something like $10 - let's just say I had to go back...twice because 1 time they had no silver.

My first step was to steal one of hubs' dry cleaning hangers and twist the top part apart...break it..find another...break it...yell...find another...use pliers and finally make it happen.

I twisted it apart and started stringing on the ornaments one by one. I read somewhere that I was supposed to glue on the little top part to the ornament but I didn't have the time patience to do that.

Once I got all the way around I twisted the top part back together. There were quite a few gaps so I took my smaller ones (bought at Hobby Lobby) and filled in the gaps by hot gluing them in.

I also bought a white "C" and hot glued it on as well.

My initial thought was "oh I want to put a burlap bow on the top" so I tried that...did not work and I got frustrated. I have no clue how I came up with this but everyone has seemed to love it.

I stuffed little folded pieces of burlap into the remaining little gaps...like so

I cute them precisely 2 inch by 2 inch...no I really did not...you see that crap?? I was cutting like a 4 year old who has just been handed a sharp new pair of scissors. No rhyme or reason to the size!

I folded them in half and just kind of scrunched some...

and I folded some in half...long ways then made kind of a paper airplane shape like the following photo

Once I had them folded like I liked I just put some glue on and stuffed them into the spaces on the wreath

I was really pleased with the end result and I know I will use this one next year.

Oh and to hang it, it was a little to thick to stay on the wreath hanger so I hooked the wire hanger onto the door hanger part and it worked perfectly!

Except for the random ornament sticking out of the top I am super pleased with it!

Pinning success!

I never shared my Christmas Tree here so I may do a break down of that tomorrow...even though Christmas is over...sad face!

I Resolve...

Every year I say the same thing - I will work out more, lose weight blah blah blah... I actually do not even know if I have actually made any resolutions that have stuck.

This year I am just going to resolve to do the following...

Continue to stick with CrossFit, I like that besides Softball it is something that hubs and I do together.

Eat cleaner - this is something that we have started looking at already, we know we can do this it is just sticking to it for more than a month that is the problem.

I want to make more time for my friends, especially the ones that do not live as close. I hate that a bulk of them live only about an hour away but we just do not see each other as much. This must change!

I want to have all the money saved for our trip to the World Cup in Brazil for 2014 - all $10,000. I know we can do this!
While I would love to upgrade our home this will not happen until the following year {hopefully!}, but we would like to put new floors in and do a couple little other upgrades around the house.

Continue to be successful with my Photography business and update the layout and functionality of the photography blog
Be as successful as I can at my job and continue to support hubs in his job

Get our...my office completed

Do more things as a couple - other than going out to a nice dinner or a movie!

Bring it on

Weekend 'o Fun

This weekend I...

Went and had Mexican food on Friday night after a loooooong week at work. No photo, but I had a fairly large Margarita and came home and passed out

Saturday I took full advantage of sleeping in and ran some errands before our Annual Santa Cause party that night, came home and found Bentley lounging and bathing...

Saturday night was our Santa party and this year we had it at the Paint Pub - which is one of those drink and paint places. We had a great time and here is my painting of the "Rustic Flag" I think I pretty much nailed it

The hostess with the mostesses - or something of that nature

Brad and I wont the Texans tickets in the Silent Auction - woot! Along with these amazing goodies

Along with having a successful 3rd Annual Santa Cause party we ended up raising $2,200 for Patriot Paws. They are an amazing non-profit that trains and provides service dogs to disabled American veterans and others with mobile disabilities. It helps them to recover and get back to independence both physically and emotionally. Really check out their website: Patriot Paws

After the party wrapped we headed out to the newest craze to hit Houston, Top Golf

It is basically a fancy driving range with microchipped balls that tells you how far you hit is, and if you make it into the bulls eyes you get more points, kind of like a stroke in bowling...I think

Sunday I woke up and finished some editing and then headed out for our annual girls night at the Nutcracker ballet. We took our regular photo in front of the ginormous tree...enjoyed the ballet and...

Took a photo with the solider during intermission
This year we were in the 7th row from the stage - amazing seats and the show seamed so much more amazing up close. After that wrapped I came home and crashed while the cold front blew threw

Hope everyone had a fab weekend, I am counting the hours until we leave for Mexico on Thursday!
