We are the champions

The flippy cup champions that is. Every year when we head out to the river we have the flippy cup challenge, needless to say we hold our reign as champions, 3 years running. I even beat my husband, who hates to lose, and disregard the man in the back he was on the losing team...

Drum Roll

We, well I found a new dining room table! After searching about a dozen places I finally found our table! I found it at Star Furniture, and had to drag my hubby out to see it, he said "it better blow me away" he of course liked it, like I knew he would! Come Wednesday we will be the proud new owners of this gorgeous table. The buffet in the background will be purchased hopefully by the end of the year! Our house is coming together and it is so exciting!

Testing....1...2...3, Is this thing on?

It has been quite sometime since I have written, sorry Laurel! The past few weeks have been quite busy with moving into our new home, my best friends baby shower, and trying to unpack in between. I still plan on posting some photos of the new crib, but let me get all the boxes undone, more decor up on the walls - and most importantly our dining room table. I have been on the hunt for a month, hopefully tomorrow brings more luck.

Two weeks ago my best friend had her baby shower in Mckinney, and she got lots of adorable gifts. I firmly believe that little Miss Turner Renee is going to be the best dressed baby around. Ang is due any second, and I know she and her hubby will be a wonderful parents. I can't wait to meet her!

Hubby and I have been playing softball together on my company softball team - Scared Hitless, it has been fun to do a sport together, although don't tell him but I am better than he is = ) We have only won 3 games, our pride is slowly diminishing haha

I am looking forward to next weekend when we go for our annual Memorial Day weekend river trip, I am so ready for a day off, and a weekend away. I look forward to this weekend almost as much as Christmas. If you live in Texas nothing is better than Texas Country music, sitting in an inner tube floating the river with a cold beer, and the hot sun with your friends. I also look forward to coming back with a nice tan.

I have begun to realize a few things these past few weeks between one thing or another. Being an adult is an adventure and things change every day. My husband is oh so very patient with me - if you know me then you know I make a big deal about EVERYTHING. I am excited about all the new things that have come our way - marriage, our house, and even friends. I look forward to the life we are starting in our new home, plus it will be amazing to not move in the next 365 days.

In 9 hours

Our movers will be here in about 9 hours, and while I am very excited to be in our new home I am dreading the move process. At least we have people to move our big stuff. Last weekend we spent painting - the WHOLE house, 18 hours and about 9 gallons of paint later we were done. Well the bathrooms are not done, but I am not losing any sleep over it. The house looks completely different now, it is crazy to see what a little paint can do.

We also ordered our blinds and got a great recommendation: selectblinds.com. If you are looking for new blinds, this is a great place to get them from. They tell you how to measure, install, etc. We ordered 2 1/2 inch faux wood blinds for the all the windows, and it comes with the crown molding. Oh and also they are very cost friendly! From what I heard they are easy to install as well, we shall see!

I will definitely update after the process is over, and will post pics of the transformation. We won't have cable or internet until May 1st so it will be after that. I have already scheduled appointments at some friends houses to keep up to date with some TV shows = )

Here are the keys to your new house

Yes you read right, we FINALLY closed on our house about 2 hours ago! I have never been so happy to be in debt, is that ok? Most of you know that we hit bumps in the road and I swear we would never get to this day but it finally came! Thanks to everyone who listened to me for the past 2 months, you are brave, but we love you all. We have picked out paint, so we will tackle that this weekend, this is almost as exciting as our wedding day, it is definitely a close second.

And here is our new home: All 2,000sq ft is ours

We should know something tomorrow...

Seems to be what I have been hearing for the nearly the last 2 months. After going through this whole "home buying" process, I would almost want to plan our whole wedding over again instead. Seriously. I understood that the loan process, and just whole home buying process in general is taking a lot longer now, but geez! I honestly feel like the house is so within our reach and we just can't quite grab on, its like dangling candy in front of a toddler - and it's not fair! Our original close date was March 17th, then it was April 7th, now it is April 17th. I am so ready to move, well we aren't packed yet but you know what I mean. I want to finally be able to unpack our wedding gifts and use them all. I am not a patient person, but I have waited long enough, it is time to move already!!!

On a brighter note we came across an amazing deal on some new furniture. We ended up finding a new queen set, with 2 nightstands, a chest, dresser, and mirror for nearly $700 cheaper than what we orignally found. We love it, it is dark cherry wood, and it going to great in our new master bedroom! Of course I had to go buy new sheets to go with our new duvet and down comforter to match the new furniture. Also with our savings on the furniture we are able to get our new dining room set that we fel in love with! I can't wait to decorate, thank god my husband will allow me to bascially do what I want = )

Also, my beautiful nephew whom I don't get to see near enough took some adorable pictures so now I will be the bragging Aunt:

Oh and congrats to my wonderful friend Sarah and hubby Tony for having their first little one Austin. Sarah is one brave woman, I don't know if I could have been in labor for nearly 36 hours! Here he is:

Felt like an Alumni

This past weekend I headed to San Angelo for our 1st Annual College Alumni soccer game, and of course to see my best friend Ang. The trip did not get off to a great start considering I was supposed to leave Friday, and did not get to leave until 6AM Saturday morning, thank you bad weather in Dallas! Finally got to San Angelo, and since we couldn't check into our ratty hotel (more about that later) we headed to our fav place to eat, and then off to campus. We thought since we were there might as well head on over to the UC, and to the bookstore. Out of all weekends, it just happened to be "Discover ASU" weekend and there were hundreds of high schoolers checking out the college, along with every college organization ASU has. We felt old. We went to the bookstore to check out what they had to offer, and we ended up buying stuff and the conversation went:

Checkout girl: "do you have your coupon?"
Us: "what coupon?"
Checkout girl: "your discover ASU coupon."
Ang: "ummm no, I am 28, Alumni, pregnant, and married..." After saying she was preggo, of course she said she was married at least twice. I love you Ang!

I guess we can take it as a compliment, apparently we still look like we could pass as high school seniors. Ang the way I see it, at least you were a pregnant married high school student wanting to continue her education! = )

Of course we had to take pictures around campus, which I am sure passerbys found amusing. Then we got to the La Quinta (which means High Speed Internet) and it has not been updated. We got to our room, and it was a nightmare. The non smoking room was obviously not one, lights barely worked, and just smelled horrible. Not to mention the girl working the front desk was less than friendly. We high tailed it outta there and headed to the Marriott. Much better!

We were able to have dinner with all of the girls from college, and even went to a smoke free bar for the preggo girls. Which by the way congrats to our fellow teammates! Can't wait to see all the babies next year! The game on Sunday against the current team, went better than expected, I mean we lost but hey we did well. It was really good to see some girls that I had not seen in a few years, and I am looking forward to the next one.
